In 2008 we realised that we could contribute our skills to reduce the high mortality rate of pregnant women in Nigeria and so we formed AAFCA, sending out teams of doctors, midwives and nurses from across the UK to train Nigerian medical professionals on ways to save lives.
Since 2008 we have been able to deliver our training courses annually, all thanks to generous donations! As we receive more donations we hope to travel to more countries across the Global South to deliver training.
Dr Adebimpe Matiluko created AAFCA in 2008 and has managed to gather a team of skilled professionals from British hospitals to travel with her to Nigeria each year. The team goes regularly develop, and improve skills of medical and midwifery professionals in Nigeria and to reduce Nigeria's high maternal mortality ratio.
This is a picture of some of our amazing faculty in 2009, alongside some course attendees, after a successful obstetric emergency skills course in Lagos.
Your support and contributions will enable us to work towards lowering the high maternal mortality ratio in Nigeria and the rest of the Global South.
